A guardrail is a collective protection system against falls from a height for flat or gently sloping surfaces.
It can be installed to protect workers operating on roofs or, in any case, in workplaces situated ‘at height’ (at a height of more than 2 metres above a stable surface) which require a system of protection against falls from a height, whilst allowing access, movement and the performance of work by persons even without personal fall protection equipment and who are not trained in the use of such equipment.
As its function is to demarcate areas where there is a risk of falling, it is designed to withstand the loads specified in the relevant regulations.
